Despite the fact that Polestar is now only producing one model: the 2, after the 1 was discontinued just three years of its official announcement, the company has big plans for the future. In a previous statement Polestar announced that 3, 4, and 5 will arrive in the next few years, and today, we have the first mule of what appears to be the next Polestar 4 Coupe SUV.

What we know so far on these future three models is that the Polestar 3 will be a large SUV, placed in the upper segment of this vehicle class, the Polestar 4 will be a mid-size coupe SUV, while the Polestar 5 will be a luxury electric sedan.

The mule was caught testing in Spain, and despite looking like a mixture between a Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2 it is actually significantly longer and features a wider wheelbase. It is indeed a modified XC40 body, but it is also clear that the wheelbase was stretched to the maximum for this body. The rear lights come from the Polestar 2, and the sporty wheels and the large brake indicate higher performance.

The prototype is also pure electric, as indicated by the many yellow stickers placed on the bonnet, windscreen, and door handles.

Rumors suggest that the next Polestar 4 will be built on Geely's SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform and will benefit from a new rear motor internally called ‘P10.’ This motor alone can develop as much as 603 horsepower, so when combined with the front motor, the Polestar could deliver as much as 871 horsepower. Of course, at this point, all these numbers are pure speculation, but you should think of the next Polestar 4 as a competitor for cars like Tesla Model Y and the Audi Q6 e-tron Sportback, and why not, even the future Lotus Type 134.
