I’ve been geeking-out about endurance racing since the late 1990s, but I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about a race than this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. If you’re like me, then you might have a Le Mans viewing kit that includes a big screen TV for the race, a laptop to stream Radio Le Mans, an iPad for live timing, a case of beer (with beer helmet if you want to get serious) and this, the always essential Spotter Guide.

Showing all 56 cars participating in the 2015 race, this incredibly handy guide includes information on each car, its class, team, driver lineup, drivetrain, tires, garage number and even the team’s Twitter handle. This year’s Spotter Guide also includes a third page with a detailed Le Sarthe track map, race schedule, news sources and key facts on the top teams. Best of all, it’s available as a free download at SpotterGuides.com.

Why it matters

As mentioned before, this year’s Le Mans should be quite a race. Audi->ke14 returns with a revised R18 e-tron quattro and its 2014 race-winning trio of Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer, and Benoît Tréluyer, as well as two other R18s packed with talent. Audi has dominated Le Mans for the past several years, but it faces a serious challenge from Porsche->ke1 and its three 919 Hybrids, two of which were fastest at the rain-soaked Le Mans test session in late May.

Toyota->ke88 returns again with two TS 040 Hybrids, but has not shown the pace it displayed this time last season. Still, the team has a strong driver lineup that includes Anthony Davidson, Alexander Wurz and Stéphane Sarrazin. They could put themselves in a position to challenge the Germans in the P1 class if they can stay out of trouble early.

It’s also the race debut for Nissan’s->ke62 wild front-wheel-drive GT-R LM. A delayed development schedule has put Nissan at a disadvantage to other P1 cars, but it should be fun just watching these bizarre race cars->ke148 compete. However, Nissan’s chances in the P2 class are much better, where 14 out 19 cars have Nissan engines.

The always-competitive GT classes will be worth watching too. American hopes will rest with the pair of Corvette Racing C7Rs, which will be looking for their first race win of the season. But that won’t come easy. The aging, yet fast AF Corse Ferrari 458s->ke3479 showed extraordinary pace at Silverstone and Spa, as have the three Vantage V8s of Aston Martin->ke13 Racing. The factory Team Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs are due for race win too.

The 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans starts at 3:00 pm local time this Saturday June 13. Download your Spotter Guide and enjoy.
