There is a point when a car is in such a bad condition that it just isn’t worth fixing it. However, the world of YouTube is full of car nuts with masochistic dispositions as Tavarish clearly demonstrates. Despite the Fast and Furious franchise having started over 20 years ago, Fast and Furious replica cars are still a hot commodity. The YouTuber already has a bright orange Lamborghini Murcielago that was used in Fast 8, but now, he bought a replica of the green Mitsubishi Eclipse - one that wore a $500 price tag. Now he's here to share why it was a mistake.

The green Mitsubishi Eclipse is one of the most iconic cars of the Fast and Furious franchise, and it's largely because it's the first car Paul Walker was seen in as Brian O’Conner. In the movie, the Mitsubishi Eclipse was portrayed as an “$80,000” car. In reality, the Eclipse wasn’t even the desired GST model, which had the 4G63T engine. Instead, it had the normally-aspirated 420A Chrysler engine, which on a good day, produced 140 horsepower.

It’s still more than what Tavarish got since opening the hood reveals…nothing. The car didn't actually have an engine, and the one that came with it, Tavarish bought for an extra $3,000 from the same owner. It’s supposedly built and has a turbocharger strapped to it. The aforementioned price also includes a five-speed manual transmission, aftermarket coil-overs, and more. Clearly, it’s not a $500 car anymore.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Mitsubishi Eclipse is in pretty rough shape, with some of the “features” including horrendous gaps between the body panels, bumpers that are barely holding on to the rest of the car, and the fact it’s essentially, the real-life equivalent of an automotive Lego set, only for masochistic car nuts. We have to note that there are some vintage aftermarket parts, like the Sparco seats and seatbelts that cannot be found anymore, so there's more to this sad Mitsubishi than meets the eye. The entire body kit, however, was made by hand and is definitely not the epitome of perfect design.

Still, if you don’t mind wrenching, it may be viewed as a bargain, considering good replicas go for over $50,000. Moreover, the price of any JDM engine continues to rise, making builds like these more and more difficult to justify spending money on, as the video below clearly demonstrates. Would you indulge in assembling the green Fast and Furious Eclipse and turning it into a proper replica?
