The Rebel could give the F-150 Raptor a run for its money!by Sidd, on
It looks like Ram is taking on the trucks segment with ruthless aggression. And why wouldn’t they? People in America have taken a certain liking towards trucks which reflects in the sales figures as well. Sedans are on the verge of extinction and SUV’s are losing their plot to trucks. As reported by 5thGenRams.com, the company is planning to take on the Ford F-150 Raptor head-on with an all-new beast called the Ram Rebel TRX. Read on to know more about it.
What powers this monster?
The Rebel TRX will be offered with two different powertrains.
The Rebel TRX will be offered with two different powertrains. The first is 6.2-liter V-8 that’s borrowed from the Challenger Hellcat and produces an astonishing 707 horses and 650 pound-feet of torque as opposed to the deturned version found 2016 TRX Concept that produced 525 horsepower. As a reminder, the 707-horsepower Hellcat engine can be found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk as well.
The second engine on offer is a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V-8 engine that generates 520 horses and 525 pound-feet of torque. Trucks running with this engine will be called ’Rebel TR.’ At a time where companies are moving to electric motors and hybrids, it’s a little surprising to see Ram go with such a powerful N/A engine. We are happy nevertheless.
With 707 horses on the tap, the Rebel TRX is all set to become the most powerful production truck as of today
The TRX has one HELL(cat) of an engine. With 707 horses on the tap, the Rebel TRX is all set to become the most powerful production truck as of today. However, we will have to wait until 2021 to see the beast conquer off-road obstacles with its sheer muscle and power. On the other hand, Ford’s truck is already an icon. The F-150 Raptor comes with a 3.5-liter Ecoboost unit producing 450 horses and 510 pound-feet of torque. Although the figures look impressive, the TRX can blow it out of the water with no questions asked. Will Ford capitulate to the monster known as TRX? Or will they come up with something even more powerful? Let us know your thoughts on this ’battle of the beasts’ in the comments section below.
