In the Orange Corner, we have the second-generation Acura NSX, which features a 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 engine, coupled to an electric motor. It has a combined output of 573 horsepower and 476 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission while twin electric motors drive the front wheels. This gives the NSX all-wheel-drive traction. The Acura NSX weighs in at 3,878 pounds.

In the Silver Corner, we have the Chevy Camaro ZL1. The 6th-gen Camaro ZL1 features a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V-8 engine that produces 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or automatic. Unlike the Acura though, the Chevy sends all its power to the rear wheels. It also weighs a tad bit more than the Acura, coming in at 3,907 pounds. So with less traction and more weight, let’s see how the ZL1 stacks up against the NSX shall we? One thing to note is that this ZL1 is rocking thicker rubber in the rear.

The showdown took place at the Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado. The Chevy pulls off some 11’s before pulling up to the lights along with the NSX. The Christmas lights turn green and the NSX has a better RT and gets a better start when compared to the ZL1.

However, by the mid-way point the Acura can’t put up with Chevy’s potent V-8 and the ZL1 eventually beats the NSX at the line. The Camaro ZL1 put out a quarter-mile time of 11.00 seconds at 129.02 mph while the Acura NSX was close and managed 11.54 seconds at 122.32 mph.

Both cars line up, once again for a second pass. The lights turn green, and just as before, the NSX has a great start, pulling a substantial lead on the Camaro, but yet again, the Chevy reels in the Acura and takes the win at the line.

So that’s one conclusive win then for the ZL1, which, despite weighing more than the NSX, having a poor start twice and packing rear-wheel drive only, still managed to clinch the win.
