Following the reveal of the Ranger Raptor in late February 2022, Ford quickly pulled the sheets off the new Ford Everest – an SUV based on the Ford Ranger (so basically, a Ford Ranger converted into an SUV) with an all-new engine, three rows of seating, and an attractive go-almost-anywhere attitude. That attitude could soon change, though, as Ford is open to an Everest Raptor should there be a high enough demand for one.

The Ford Everest, which isn’t destined for the United States, will be offered with a wide range of engines that include a set of new diesel engines that replace the 3.2-liter five-cylinder - a 3.0-liter, turbocharged V-6, and a 2.0-liter four-banger. There’s also a 2.3-liter EcoBoost on the way, but It won’t be available until sometime in 2023. A six-speed manual transmission is up for the taking, but you can also have Ford’s 10-speed automatic. The new Everest might look like it’s ready to go off-road, but it might soon be offered with even better capability as a report from Motor1 says that Ford is considering giving the Everest the Raptor treatment.

The outlet spoke to the Global Chief Engineer of the T6 platform, Ian Foston, about whether or not the Everest will get the Raptor enhancements. He didn’t confirm or deny it, but did say it’s not on the agenda for now and Ford could easily change its mind if there’s enough customer interest. Considering the fact that the Everest is simply a Ford Ranger with a Roof and some extra seats, and almost identical mechanically, the conversion would be a very simple process.

The highlight would, of course, be the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 from the Ranger Raptor. It probably wouldn’t have the 392 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque that we’ll see here in the States, though. In most markets outside of America, that engine is detuned to just 288 horsepower and 362 pound-feet of torque due to emissions regulations. Other enhancements would include the revised and taller suspension, off-road wheels and tires, and other chassis tweaks to make it worthy of the off-road prowess the Raptor name demands.

Of course, the Everest isn’t sold in America or Europe, and there’s a good chance that isn’t going to change anytime soon, but you’ll still be able to get a Ranger Raptor in 2023, so you’ve got that going for you.
