Chris Harris walks us through one of the most epic car collections that’s about to go to auction

Collecting cars is a relatively new YouTube channel that focuses on quality rather than quantity. When you click on the video and Chris Harris appears in it, you know it’s going to be some epic content. Although the man doesn’t need much introduction, the Leonard Collection definitely does. There’s an obvious focus on significant cars, most of which are different versions and generations of the Porsche 911.

The video starts from outside where Chris Harris walks next to some already epic machinery, such as the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale and F430 Scuderia, neatly arranged outside the “shed”. Walking in, the sheer number of rare cars is mesmerizing. Chris Harris barely know where to start before walking up to a Carrera Club Sport that has only 6,000 miles on the clock.

Harris is known to have a soft spot for Porsches – something to which I can relate – and he mentions how he regrets selling a variety of rare Porsche models, which then appreciated in value. Among his regrets were a Porsche 993 GT2 and a 911 4.0 RS.

A Guards Red 930 Turbo 3.3 with a G50 gearbox is the next car Harris talks about. With 77,000 miles, this one has been enjoyed by someone before being put on auction. According to Harris, the car is a “minter”.

Chris quickly goes mad about a light blue 911 T, which according to him “you’d feel like a superhero” if you go to a Goodwood race meeting.

The drooling continues with the 911 (991) GT2 RS, which has over 700 horsepower and is somehow legal to drive. According to Harris, it’s “five times more dangerous” than buying an assault rifle.

We continue to a beautiful purple 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS, flanked by the less-desirable, but equally awesome 1974 Carrera 2.7 RS.

The collection also features a 997 Speedster, which Chris Harris wasn’t particularly fond of, back in the day. In time, the car somehow wormed its way into his heart, just like a 911 does.

We come to a couple of 964s, neatly arranged next to one another – a Ferrari Yellow, Maritime Blue, and a Guards Red one, which has only 110 km on the odometer.

The three 964 RS cars are joined by two 964 Turbos. Both have the Turbo 3.6 aesthetics, but the blue one is actually a Turbo 3.3. Still, it has “the bad boy looks” and that’s okay for us.

Another gem in the collection is a yellow 993 RS. We all know that Porsche fanatics get soft legs just when the 993 name is being uttered. The last air-cooled Porsche. The 993 RS, according to Harris, is “the high watermark”.

Next, Harris praises the blue on white 996 GT3 RS – “best steering of any RS model”. In addition, the right-hand-drive 996 has only 3,569.

“The original Widowmaker” – Harris exclaims, as he approaches the 997 GT2 RS, which also happens to be one of my favorite Porsche 911 versions. Harris, however, finds the two 911 (991) GT3 4.0 RS next to it even more special.

We are rounding up the Porsche section with a Viper Green 991.2 GT3 RS, a yellow Carrera GT, and a white with red stripes 911 R.

Moving up we have a white with blue stripes Ford GT and an early C3 Corvette Stingray, before moving to the BMW Z8, regarding which Harris seems to have a change of heart. One of the last cars Harris stops by is a rare UK-spec Ferrari F512 M and you might be surprised to hear that Harris has nothing bad to say about it.

Chris Harris finishes on a humorous note, saying “I’ll be tying my hands behind my back for a few days, otherwise I might not own a house anymore”. I understand Chris. For the rest, however, let the bidding begin, as all of the above-mentioned cars are being auctioned off.

Born in 1992, I come from a family of motoring enthusiasts. My passion for cars was awoken at the age of six, when I saw a Lamborghini Diablo SV in a magazine. After high school I earned a master’s degree in marketing and a Master of Arts in Media and Communications. Over the years, I’ve practiced and become skilled in precision driving and to date have test driven more than 250 cars across the globe. Over the years, I’ve picked up basic mechanical knowledge and have even taken part in the restoration of a 1964 Jaguar E-Type and an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint. Lately, I’ve taken a fancy to automotive photography, and while modern cars are my primary passion, I also have a love for Asian Martial Arts, swimming, war history, craft beer, historical weapons, and car restoration. In time, I plan my own classic car restoration and hope to earn my racing certificate, after which I expect to establish my own racing team.  Read full bio
