The guys at the Hoonigan YouTube Channel are known for pitting some truly ridiculous builds against each other, in their THIS vs THAT showdowns. It’s no different on this occasion either, with a modified 2015 Honda Grom taking on a tuned 1980 Ford Bronco.

THIS - 2015 Honda Grom

In the THIS corner, we have Chaz Senato’s 2015 Honda Grom, which was built out at his shop in San Diego. It has to be one of the craziest Grom’s out there because this is no standard. It now has the engine from a CBR 300R. It is an 84 mm big-bore engine that features oversize valves, titanium retainers, dual valve springs and crawler cams.

That's more than five times the power. This Grom sits on custom wheels and slick tires, which Chaz says were fitted just for the drag races. In order to keep weight down, carbon fiber has been used generously on the bike. As a result, it only weighs 200 pounds.

THAT - 1980 Ford Bronco

In the THAT corner, we have Ryan Hauf’s old-school 1980 Ford Bronco. Don’t be fooled by the modest looks though, because this beast has been previously featured on the channel and has won a $5000 burnout competition. Under the hood lies an 8.5 Liter (which is LOUD) 460 block 521 strokers along with 10.5:1 Compression, roller cams, trick flow cylinder heads, flipped headers, Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection, and a couple of 340 liters per hour fuel pumps.

Don’t miss the exhaust sticking out from the front passenger wheel well. This Bronco is lifted and features quad shocks (two on each side) and tops out a 60 mph.

Apparently, these two, are on par when it comes to their power to weight ratio and top speeds. Which will dominate? The quirky little Grom or the beat-up Bronco? With the numbers out of the way, let's RACE !!!

Round 1 - 500 feet head 2 head

For Round One, we begin with a 500 feet head 2 head. Go!!!! The 200 Grom launches off the line pretty well, but it can’t hold on to the lead for long, as the Bronco’s big-block reels Chaz in and takes the win, on this first run.

Round 2 - 500 feet Grom gets Hit

For the second pass, Chaz wants a hit for his Grom. And so the Ryan obliges in his Bronco as they set off. The Grom does a wheelie, while the Bronco, drifts trying to put all that power down. However, once the Bronco gets going, Ryan just pulls away from Chaz and clinches this one as well. That makes it two wins for the truck, and Ryan does a couple of doughnuts to celebrate.

Bonus Round - 500 feet Grom gets a Car Length

For the final round, Chaz wants a car length prior to launch. The hammer drops and obviously, the Grom is well ahead. Just as before the Ryan struggles to put the power down in the Bronco but manages to get it in line and begins reeling in the Grom, but Chaz just about managed to hold back the Bronco and finally took this one.

To Sum it Up

That makes it two out of three for the truck. It really was a mega showdown between these two and certainly has to be one of the quirkiest ones that we didn’t see coming.
