Dodge’s top of the line performance truck takes on a Challenger, a BMW and an Old Chevy 1500 in a couple of passes

The Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube Channel put out a video of a 2021 Dodge Ram TRX taking on a fellow Mopar beast, the Dodge Challenger, an E 90 BMW 3 Series, and what looks like a highly tuned 90’s Chevy 1500 Pick-Up Truck.

The Blue TRX seen here is a bone stock truck with no mods. The RAM has a 6.2 Liter HEMI V-8 Engine that produces 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, routed through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Dodge’s full-size performance pick-up has been touted as “the quickest, fastest and most powerful truck ever.”

The Races

The TRX goes up against some odd vehicles in three different passes. We didn’t have the performance numbers of the competition as the YouTuber did not put out any specs of the competition.

The first car to take on Dodge’s full-size pick-up truck is an E90 3 Series, which does seem to carry some mods. We didn’t have the specs of the Beemer on hand

First in line to take on the TRX was the E90 BMW 3 Series. From the looks of it, this Beemer seems like it has some performance mods like a carbon front bumper and a subtle lip spoiler, which ought to help with cutting down on weight, ideal for the drag strip. Both cars lined up at the start line for launch.

Despite the pickup driver’s poor start, the TRX made up for it clocking in a quicker time of 12.72 seconds opposed to the BMWs 13.45 seconds

The lights turn green and the BMW pulls away because, the TRX’s driver was preoccupied with, using the center screen. Despite the poor start from the RAM, the quarter-mile times tell a different story. The Pick-Up truck still managed a quicker time of the two, at 12.72 seconds against the BMWs 13.45 seconds to do the standing quarter.

While the TRX is powered with a 6.2 L HEMI V-8 engine, with the Pick-Up truck churning out 702 HP, the Challenger R/T Scat Pack features a 6.4 L HEMI V-8 engine that produces 485 HP

Next in line was Mopar brother in the form of the Dodge Challenger, which features a 6.4 Liter HEMI V-8 engine, that produces 485 horsepower. It was quite a sight to see these two Dodge’s line-up at the start line.

The RAM truck ran close to the Challenger all the way to the line. The Pick-Up managed 12.97 seconds, while the Challenger was a shy quicker at 12.77 seconds

The hammer drops and the Challenger initially struggle for traction and then gets going alright. The RAM driver’s reaction time, this time round was thankfully much better when compared to the previous pass. The Pick-Up runs pretty close to the Muscle car all the way to the quarter-mile line.

The Challenger set’s a time of 12.77 seconds while the TRX was not very far behind clocking in a time of 12.97 seconds.

For the third and final race, we have what looks like an old 90’s Chevy truck. It’s certainly got sleeper looks

The final contender to take on the TRX was an old Chevy Pick-Up, which looks like a sleeper. It’s only when you look at the giant backward-facing hood scoop and the performance Hoosier rubber that the Chevy is wearing do you realize that this truck might just have some serious performance under the hood.

But the Chevy stayed in the lead all the way till the end and took the win. The Chevrolet clocked in a time of 11.60 seconds while the RAM managed 12.65 seconds to complete the quarter-mile

Lining up against the TRX, the Chevy puts that sticky rubber to the ground. The lights turn green and from the get-go it’s all over. The Chevy lept forward and had a phenomenal launch and led this one all the way to the finish line, taking the win.

It clocked in a time of 11.60 seconds, while the RAM was just over a second slower at 12.65 seconds.

It is staggering to see how far performance pick-up trucks have come. We wonder as to how they’d fare with some mods and performance rubber. Swipe Up to Read More.

The TRX that showed up at the drag strip had off-road tires and all the added weight of being a full-size pickup truck. The quarter-mile times, that it puts out, truly are astonishing and defy the laws of physics. We wonder as to how would the TRX fare at the Drag Strip, with some performance mods and rubber.
