Acura has dropped plans for a new NSX sports car, but this doesn’t mean the company does not have big plans for the future. And these plans include a new compact car and a new coupe model being added to the line-up.

The new compact model will be based on the next-generation Honda Civic and will be unveiled in the spring of 2012. Acura dropped the compact segment in 2006 when they stopped producing the RSX. As for the coupe model, Acura is considering re-entering the segment on the TSX platform, but this might take a while.

The other models in the line-up will also be refreshed including the TL which will be redesigned for 2014. The RL will never get a RWD V8 version as people might have expected, but Acura has promised other versions instead. A refreshed version will come in 2013. The RDX and the MDX will be refreshed for the 2012 model year and the TSX will get a station wagon version this fall.
