After Seeing This Rendering, We’re Convinced The Porsche Taycan Should’ve Been A Supercar
This rendering has got us head over heelsby Tudor Rus, on LISTEN 01:50
Let’s face it: the Taycan is an amazing sports car, nothing short of what we expected from Porsche in the first place. And when I say amazing I say capable of breaking one’s neck during full acceleration from a standstill but also capable of planting itself on the road like it’s on rails.
Then again, what if the Taycan belonged to the supercar species?
Such an answer comes from Rain Prisk, one of today’s top pixel manipulators when it comes to reimagining a car or envisioning one from a clean sheet of paper.
His vision of a would-be Taycan supercar sends a lot of McLaren vibes from where I’m standing. That aside, the front end - or what’s visible from this angle - gives away the fact that the artist started with the standard Taycan and worked his way up to that wedge shape suggesting a mid-mounted powertrain.
And this is where the tricky part comes into play. The Taycan is a pure-electric sports car, so no ICE to place behind the driver in a fantasy supercar version. This means that the battery pack could sit there, allowing for a better weight distribution, but the electric motors would have to be placed on each axle. Of course, nobody is going to build such a thing in the near future, so the technical solution aspect isn’t worth discussing.
Coming back to the design itself, it looks pretty much like something that could come out of Porsche’s own design studios. Maybe the carmaker is planning an electric supercar of its own or maybe that’s out of the question for now. What I’m trying to say is that Rain Prisk’s work is so good that it demands to be turned into reality.
As I said, it’s highly unlikely that Porsche will do it, so I guess we’re once again left drooling all over our keyboards.
