Recalls happen all the time in the auto industry. What’s rare is when the automaker that’s doing the recall is a niche Italian supercar brand that’s known more for building some of the most gorgeous cars on the planet. But alas, strange things happen in this strange business, which is why, of all auto brands in the world, Pagani is recalling all 2017 MY Huayra BC and Huayra Roadster supercars in the U.S. All 16 of them.

And you thought the Ferrari 488s that Ferrari recalled a week ago was rare? Apparently, Pagani is taking that mantle for itself. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall involves all 16 Huayra BC and Huayra Roadster models that are currently in the U.S. Turns out, even these multi-million dollar supercars are subject to defects and deficiencies. Who knew?

In the case of the Huayras, the defect was reportedly found in the battery, which may not have enough power to start the car or keep it running. Imagine driving your Huayra with everyone looking at it, and then it suddenly stops because the battery conks out. Sucks to be you, right?

Unfortunately, neither Pagani nor the NHTSA has found a remedy to fix the defective batteries. As such, there’s no timetable on when the cars are going to get fixed, leaving open the possibility that you may not be able to drive your Huayras for an unspecified period of time.

It’s a big problem to have, especially for a car that’s supposedly immune to everyday knocks like a faulty battery. Neither the Huayra BC or Huayra Roadster are supposed to have problems like this. Both cars are made out of carbon fiber, pack 6.0-liter, twin-turbo, V-12 engines, and have as much as 745 horsepower to play with. If they are going to have any problem, shouldn’t it involve something a lot more sophisticated than a defective battery?

But, reality is reality no matter how it’s interpreted. All 16 units of the Huayra BC and Huayra Roadster in the U.S. are up for a recall. For safety’s sake, owners of these mighty supercars better adhere to it, or they could find themselves with bigger problems down the road.
