There are plenty of differences between the Nissan Z Spot and Performance trims; the base car lacks some of the essentials
by Dim Angelov, onBy now, you’re probably tired of hearing about the Nissan Z. We know it’s out and we know (or at least hope) it’s going to be the bargain performance car everyone was waiting on. With that said, there are two trims (not counting the limited-edition Proto) - Sport and Performance. John Raiti, from Raiti’s Rides, helps us discuss the differences between the two Nissan Z trims - there are more of them than you think, so feel free to check them out below.
The Nissan Z Sport comes with smaller, 18-inch, cast-aluminum wheels. The Performance trim gets you 19-inch Rays
Like in the original Fairlady Z, the rear spoiler is optional. The base, Sport trim does not have it
Nissan Z Sport comes with smaller brakes. It comes with floating calipers and smaller rotors, compared to the Performance trim
NISMO exhaust could be available on the base trim too. This particular test car has it and it sounds a lot different, compared to the standard one
The biggest drawback of the Sport trim is the open differential. If you want a limited-slip diff, you have to upgrade to the Performance trim
According to Raiti, the Nissan Z Sport will not feature a two-tone interior. That said, this could be limited to the dark grey and black exterior finishes
The Nissan Z Sport can only be had with a cloth interior. The leather interior can be had only on the Performance trim
The base Nissan Z does not feature automatic rev-matching for the 6-speed manual. Many buyers would probably switch it off anyway
The Performance trim was rumored to feature beefier strut-tower braces, compared to the base, Sport trim
