Before the SUV received its moniker, the Land Rover Defender was simply called Land Rover 90 or 110, based on the model's wheelbase. It was almost a decade after its launch that Land Rover decided to call it the Defender. So, on sale here is a 1990 Land Rover 110 that has been all around the globe. It was first exported from the U.K. to Italy and then overhauled bycThe Landrovers in the Netherlands five years back. In 2016, it finally reached U.S. shores and it has been here ever since. Now the current owner has put this three-decade-old model on Bring-a-Trailer.

At the time of writing, the current bid stands at $45,000 and there’s a week left before the auction closes. Has this piqued your interest?

How Is It On The Outside?

The Land Rover 110 is painted in Portofino Red shade that sure is attention-seeking. The black wheel arches complement the shade well and don’t look out of place. It is also equipped with diamond-plate rocker guards and tubular step rails. To give it a tougher look, one of the owners has even installed a roll cage with a matching roof rack and ladder.

There is an aluminum radiator, and intake grilles from Series Defender Outfitters along with Vision X ADV light cannons with polycarbonate lenses. This classic example rides on 16-inch Black Toro Blanco wheels that are wrapped in 265/75 BFGoodrich KM2 Mud-Terrain T/A tires. The tires aren’t exactly new and have run 9,000 miles. There is a matching spare mounted on the swing-away Mantec carrier on the tailgate.

How Is It On The Inside?

For starters, the cabin is upholstered in black leather with red stitching and quilted inserts. The flooring is covered in Exmoor carpets and rubber mats and a padding kit has been installed for the interior portion of the roll cage. One of the previous owners even sound-proofed this SUV by adding damping material to the engine bay, doors, bulkhead, and ceiling. New door seals were installed by the current owner.

The seller has stated that an aluminum Series Defender dash dock mounting bar has been added as well. The Land Rover 110’s speedometer and the odometer were also replaced. Before it was replaced, the SUV had around 100,000 miles on the odometer. There are some other notable features inside the cabin, like:

-* Front Seat Heaters

-* LaSalle Headliner and Door Panels

-* Five 12-volt Outlets

-* LED lighting

-* Iron Goat Console

-* A Locking Storage Cubby

-* Garmin Montana GPS

-* Apple CarPlay-compatible Stereo

-* Subwoofer with a Remote Amplifier

-* Back-up Camera

What’s Under The Hood?

It features a variable-geometry turbocharger, and a double-core intercooler, too. Power is sent to all the wheels via a refurbished LT77 five-speed manual transmission, a Global Roamer DS-B overdrive, and a refurbished two-speed transfer case with a locking differential. A Salisbury differential is fitted in the rear axle as well.

The radiator and electric fan are sourced from AlliSport, whereas the snorkel is from Mantec. Currently, it is equipped with dual Odyssey batteries. The SUV also has a new alternator, starter, and fuel pump have, and the selling dealer has replaced the air filter and V-belts after procuring it from the owner. Furthermore, a 10-gallon auxiliary fuel tank has been added along with aluminum skid plates for the steering box and fuel tank. The present odometer indicates 6,000 miles which were done since the 200Tdi engine was installed.

The 110 is fitted with an Old Man Emu heavy-duty suspension kit with coil springs and shocks and a 48-inch lift jack with aluminum mounts. It has a refurbished braking system that features disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

This Is The Vehicle You Need For Those Camping Nights

This SUV is also a perfect Overlanding vehicle, as it comes with stuff like an Autohome Columbus pop-up roof tent with an integrated mattress. You can take it literally anywhere and set up camp. To help you with that, the 110 also features a metal snow cowling, a Rovers North ax, and a shovel carrier. The inward-facing cargo area bench seats inside the cabin are removed to accommodate a Front Runner storage drawer and a 36-liter onboard water tank.

Final Thoughts

As you can see, this is no ordinary Land Rover 110. Nothing is stock on this vehicle, right from the exterior, to interior, or even stuff under the hood. This isn’t just a tough off-roader, but also has a lot of equipment that give confidence in planning a camping night even in the remotest part. The receipts and invoices for the mods undertaken are provided as well. Also, it has a clean Oregon title currently. The current bid stands at $45,000 and there’s a week left for the auction to close.
