Mercedes has been one of the most prolific EVmakers in recent times. At last year’s IAA Show, the automaker revealed five new vehicles in one auto show – the EQE sedan, the EQB crossover, the EQG Concept, the Maybach EQS SUV, and the AMG EQS. The onslaught continued this year with the launch of the Vision EQXX Concept. Now, the automaker has come up with yet another EQ model; this time in the form of the AMG EQE!
The performance division of the automaker has unleashed the EQE with some serious power gains. In the Boost mode, it puts out up to 677 horsepower that will help sprint to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds! It will have an estimated range of up to 322 miles as per the WLTP cycle. Sounds like a sweet package, right?
What Powers The AMG EQE?
There are five drive modes on offer – Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. There’s also the Race Start function that allows you to use all the power available. If you have opted for the AMG Dynamic Plus Package, you’ll be able to engage the Boost Function here. Mercedes-AMG has even stated the power outputs in each mode:

- Comfort – 493 horsepower
- Sport – 555 horsepower

The EQE comes with a 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system as standard. To satisfy your aural needs, the car also comes with special speakers, a sound generator, and a bass actuator to mimic the sounds of an internal combustion engine car. There are "Authentic" and optional "Performance" sound programs, and both of them come with three variants – Balanced, Sport, and Powerful.
How Much Range Does The AMG EQE Offer?
The AMG EQE comes with a 90.6 kWh usable battery pack. The company hasn’t given the exact range numbers yet, but has stated the provisional figures – 276-322 miles. Note that these are as per the WLTP cycle. So, expect the numbers to be anywhere between 250- and 280 miles as per the EPA cycle.
The EV comes with an 11 kW on-board charger as standard and 22 kW as optional. It also supports up to DC fast-charging up to 170 kW that can add 112 miles of range in 15 minutes.
What’s Different On The Outside?
When compared to the standard EQE model, the AMG EQE comes with the signature AMG-specific black panel grille upfront. ‘Digital Light’ headlamps are also offered here. There’s an AMG A-wing design that’s painted in gloss black and comes with chrome trim on it. The front splitter also follows the same pattern. The flics and fins on the air intakes further aid the aerodynamic efficiency.
AMG has also equipped side sill panels and air diffusers in a high gloss black finish. The company hasn’t mentioned the wheel size and options, but we know that you will get 21-inch wheels as one of the options. At the rear, there’s a diffuser and a large spoiler to improve the driving dynamics and aid range efficiency.
The braking duties are taken over by AMG’s high-performance brakes that consist of six-piston calipers and 16.4-inch rotors at front, and single-piston calipers and 14.9-inch discs at the rear. You can also opt for the ceramic brakes that come with bigger 17.3-inch discs at the front.
The AMG EQE also benefits from the Ride Control+ air suspension with adaptive adjustable damping. It’s the same setup that’s seen in the AMG EQS as well as the AMG GT Four-Door Coupe, but with EQE-specific calibration. Apart from this, it also comes with rear steering as standard that turns up to 3.6 degrees. At speeds of up 37 mph, the rear wheels will steer in the opposite direction to the front wheels, and once you cross that speed, it will stay in the same direction.
As for the dimensions, the AMG EQE is 195 inches long, 75 inches wide, and 58 inches tall. You get a cargo capacity of 15.2 cubic feet. This, most likely, doesn’t include the frunk capacity.
