First introduced in 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show, the hotly anticipated DB11 hit the scene as a successor to the beloved DB9, bringing superlative British performance and styling to the high-end luxury GT segment. Now, there’s an even-faster version from Aston’s performance boffins at AMR.

The Full Story

Offered as a replacement for the outgoing V-12-powered DB11, the new DB11 AMR takes its place as the new capstone to the DB11 pyramid.

For those of you who may be unaware, AMR is Aston’s go-to go-faster division, also known for models like the Vantage AMR and AMR Pro. As such, the DB11 AMR gets greater performance potential, as well as new exterior and interior stuff to help differentiate it from lesser DB11 models.

Let’s start with the most important bit, namely the twin-turbo 5.2-liter V-12 engine under the hood, which was tuned to produce as much as 630 horsepower. That’s 30 more than the outgoing DB11 V12, while torque remains static at 700 Nm (516 pound-feet).

The bump in output cuts the 0-to-60 mph time to just 3.7 seconds, slashing two-tenths of a second from the older model’s time. Top speed is rated at a very-fast 208 mph.

The DB11 AMR also comes with new transmission settings for faster cog swaps, not to mention a more pronounced exhaust note, which is especially noticeable when romping around in Sport mode.

The exterior receives extra carbon and glossy black details, with dark headlight surrounds and smoked taillights. The front grille, exhaust tips, roof, side sills, and splitter all get the same darker treatment, while carbon fiber was added to the hood blades and side strakes. A carbon fiber engine cover adds extra drama when popping the hood.

Inside, the cabin complements the dark exterior with monotone leather and Alcantara for the upholstery, plus Lime-colored detailing to add a splash of color to the mix. A leather sports steering wheel comes as standard.

“With the exceptional V8 Coupe and Volante we felt the V12 could reveal more of its sporting potential, while remaining the consummate GT. By applying a suite of carefully considered performance and styling enhancements the DB11 AMR is both faster - 208 mph! - and more precise,” says Aston’s President and CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer.

Customers can get theirs in a trio of Design Specifications for extra customization opportunities, as well as the even-more exclusive AMR Signature Edition.

Only 100 total will be built, with the AMR Signature Edition starting at 201,995 pounds ($273,585 at current exchange rates, 05/11/2018). Meanwhile the “standard” DB11 AMR starts at 174,995 pounds in the U.K. and $241,000 in the U.S. Deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2018.
