Earlier today Aston Martin dropped a teaser video that announced the arrival of the "world's most powerful luxury SUV" on February 1st, 2022. Just a few hours later our spy photographers were able to catch the upcoming range-topping version of the DBX out for some last-minute testing in the snow.

The new model - rumored to be called DBX S - was first caught testing back in December 2021, when we also got our first rumors on it. It will be the third DBX model in the lineup, next to the base model powered by a twin-turbo V-8 and the recently launched DBX inline-six, mild-hybrid powertrain - but only offered in China.

The prototype in the pictures features a revised front fascia with a bigger grille and a new front bumper with larger airflow openings in the bottom. The rear reveals new quad exhaust outlets - different from the current DBX’s dual outlets.

As for the engine, some rumors suggest it will get the 5.2-liter V-12 from the Aston Martin DB11, while others talk about a tuned version of the current twin-turbo V-8. Either way, in order to actually be the most powerful SUV in the world, Aston Martin has to aim to more than 700 horsepower.

The current DBX delivers a total of 542 horsepower, but there is a very long list of SUVs a lot more powerful than this. Just to name a few: Rolls Royce Cullinan - 600 horsepower; Mercedes-AMG GLE S - 603 horsepower; BMW X5 M Competition - 617 horsepower; Bentley Bentayga Speed - 626 horsepower; Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT - 631 horsepower and Lamborghini Urus 641 horsepower.

There are also, two SUVs that already deliver more than 700 horsepower: the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk - 707 horsepower and the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat - 710 horsepower. Not to mention that BMW promised that when the XM Concept will be put into production it will deliver 750 horsepower!

So, what does this mean for Aston Martin? Will the DBX S delivers more than 750 horsepower? Or will it be the most powerful SUV in the world just until the XM will debut?

We will find out in just two weeks!
