It might not be so obvious today, but Audi's->ke14 Quattro all-wheel-drive system was quite the game-changer when it was first introduced. Back in the early '80s, Audi's Sport Quattro race cars->ke148 forever changed the sport of rallying->ke191 by making AWD a necessity. But these days there are a lot of AWD sedans->ke142 to choose from, and you might even be given to thinking that they're all the same. But Audi's Quattro system wasn't designed just for a bit of snow on a suburban side street, it was made for rallying, and the system in the A7->ke1687 is more similar to the one from the race cars than most people realize.

So to prove it, Audi sent an A7 out into the sand dunes of Dubai. No special tires, no lifted suspension, just an A7 driven off of the road and onto the sand. Is this the kind of thing that your average A7 owner is going to need to do? Of course not, but it never hurts to have a car that you know is capable of handling some seriously tough terrain. Plus, obviously, it looks really cool doing it.
