• Audi A9 will first be offered as a coupe and cabrio

It was only a few short months ago that we caught wind of a new Audi getting prepared to take on models such as the Porsche Panamera Turbo. Coming in sometime around 2015, the Audi A9 will be a luxury sedan that will take futuristic design to an attainable level, but not before coupe and cabrio versions of the car show up to steal the spotlight.

The Audi A9 coupe will come with fully retractable side windows, while the cabrio gets a soft top. It is rumored to be offered with a 3.0 TFSI engine producing around 300 HP for the base version and a V8 with 500 HP for the top version. The stylish exterior, luxurious interior, and power options will make the A9 an excellent competitor for models such as the

and SL-Class.

Pricing for the different versions of the Audi A9 will start at 80,000 euros, or about $110,000 at the current exchange rates, for the Coupe and Cabrio versions compared to the $140,000 price tag on the Sedan.

Of course, these are all just rumors as of right now. With all of the different changes going on in the auto industry, we wouldn’t be surprised if this vehicle underwent many other changes - can we say hybrid? - before Audi finally rolls it out sometime in the next few years.

Yeah, I have to agree that it is too early to give some heavy comment, which is only based on rumors, well we need some patience to wait on the other updated news about this rumor.

i think it is too early to discuss or comment based on rumors. There is ample time and who knows what major changes can be made with such rapid development going on.

OK, will be giving this one a chance. Most of the convertibles that Audi offered are actually quite good, so it might be possible that it will turn out that way also.

I don’t really have a problem if they offer this one as a convertible. In fact, I am really looking forward to that one, since I think that the A9 would really be perfect for it.

I am not really sure if I am going to like the A9 as a convertible. Basing on the photos of the coupe, it will likely look blocky when in the cabrio version.

Well, its likely that they will change some of the design elements of the car to fit in the convertible model. And one bit that I suggest they would tinker with first is that huge grille up front.

The A9 would definitely look good as a coupe, but I doubt that it would be the same as a convertible. There are just too many features of the car that don’t fit the cabrio design.

IMO, I think it would be awesome to have a four door coupe with this version. However, this thing is extremely good. I’m just afraid that , if A9 would be a Cabrio,
I do hope that the speed and performance of the car will not be affected. For sure hardtop will increase at the weight of this car.

Wow, that would be a fine selection. Come to think of it, not a lot of automakers are offering the cabrio setup nowadays, so this one would be interesting to see.

I think the A9 will likely be a traditional 2 door coupe, since they don’t have an upper level coupe to compete with the MB CL/SL coupes. They may go a step further and throw in some suicide doors to make it easier to access the rear seats. More than likely the interior will mirror the A8’s with a flow-through console to the rear. If they made a big 4 door coupe above the A7, what’s the point of having the A5 below that, seems like more redundancy if that’s the case. I also wouldn’t expect the base engine to smaller than a V8, since it’s main competitors at that price point whether it be 2 or 4 door coupe, all come with an 8 cyl as a base. If they’ve already confirmed that it’ll be made (the platform is available and work is already underway), you can expect a concept sometime this year, with a production model soon after. This will more than likely is only a year away and will mostly like be here for the 2013 model year.
