Fresh off of teasing the flagship K900’s exterior, Kia is following up with a teaser sketch of the interior. Slowly but surely, we’re getting a clearer idea of what the K900 has to offer. From where we stand, it looks like the Kia K900 is going to be more than just a novelty flagship; it has the chops to be a legitimate contender in the luxury space segment.

Kia’s got a nice one in its hands, doesn’t it? That’s the prevailing sentiment we’re getting after the Korean automaker released this new sketch of the luxury sedan’s interior. Our first impression is that the interior looks relatively restrained. That’s actually a good thing because luxury interiors are supposed to be decidedly less flashy on the surface. It’s in the subtle details where they stand out. Arguably the most prominent feature of the cabin is the wide central screen that Kia says measures 12.3 inches. The display itself is long enough that it almost touches the opposite ends of the two A/C vents.

Just behind it, you’ll see a full-width strip of wood that extends all the way to the doors. There’s your luxury touch right there. Even the steering wheel and the gear shift surround get their share of the wood trim. The latter is noticeable, too, because of the presence of an infotainment jog dial and a series of buttons arranged neatly on its base.

Most of the interior surface appears to be covered in fine leather, though that’s not at all surprising. What we can’t see from this sketch are the tech features. Kia says that the digital screen has gesture control capabilities. The cabin also has an “intelligent lighting system.” We don’t necessarily know what that entails, but the automaker said that it’s a sophisticated mood lighting system that helps the driver and passenger get the feeling of being snuggly wrapped around the leather interior. Chromotherapy is one of the system’s mood lighting system, but there are more modes to choose from.

Overall, the cabin looks understated yet comfortable. It doesn’t scream off the sketch like the interiors from other luxury cars we’ve seen recently. It’s a nice complement to the car’s graceful exterior looks. For what that’s worth, established brands like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz might need to keep an eye on the Kia K900. There’s more to it than meets the eye.
