Audi has already made its intentions clear that starting 2023, the A4 will ditch the internal combustion engine in favor of an electric powertrain. This means, that the next A4 Avant - together with the sedan version - which has been caught testing a few times before - will be the last fuel-powered A4.

While the car is still heavily camouflaged, it is obvious that Audi is making the grille smaller once again - a move that goes against the current trend. So, in a world where everyone is fighting to have the biggest grille, Audi seems to be doing the right thing.

Also, it looks like the headlights look sharper than the current generation, while the taillights are still just prototype lights. The spy shots also reveal that the next A4 will go for some new door handles that look smoother and will help improve the car's aerodynamics.

The next-generation Audi A4 - internally known as the B10 - will grow in size and will move closer to the A6 territory. Under the hood, it will retain the same diesel and gasoline engines lineup, but an electric version will also join the lineup. Rumors suggest that the manual transmissions will also go away.

The next Audi A4 will be unveiled sometime in 2023.
