Back in January, at the Detroit Auto Show, Audi launched the Q7 V12 TDI Concept, one of the most powerful ever diesels SUV. According to AutoTelegraf, this will come reality: Audi confirmed the car will go into production in the second half of 2008. An even good news is that the model will also be available for USA.

The V12 TDI engine is the most powerful engine coming from Audi, this will make the Q7 TDI the most powerful diesel-powered model in the world, meaning no competition for it and as a result strong sales for Audi. At least this is that they hope. But considering the Q7 is already a success...

The V12 engine that powers the concept has a capacity of 500 hp and a peak torque of 738 ft.-lbs. at only 1750 rpm. A time of just 5.5 seconds for the dash from zero to 100 km/h and an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h give the high-performance SUV sports car calibre. Its six-litre twelve-cylinder diesel unit demonstrates the tremendous technological expertise at Audi’s fingertips. 18 years after the Ingolstadt brand invented the modern-day TDI engine, it is presenting it in an all-new high-tech, range-topping guise. The engine has a fuel consumption of only 11.9 litre per 100 km.
