Audi R8 Spider official design sketch
Car Online put their hands on the official design sketch of the R8 Spider. The R8 Spider will go on sale in 2009, and from this sketches you can make a clear idea of how the car will look like.
From the image you can see that the R8 Spider features twin speedster humps incorporating breathing vents for the mid-engined V8 behind the two-seater cockpit. The doors are deeply scalloped, as on the coupe, but this time there’s a shortened, stumpier aluminium-look blade just ahead of the rear wheels. Tone down the cartoony feel of this sketch (just look at the liquorice-wrapped, deeply dished alloys) and this is the final production car.
The R8 spider will be powered by the same 4.2-litre V8 naturally aspirated engine found in the RS4 and R8 tin-top. The maximum output is 414 hp.
In an attempt to become world’s biggest premium car maker by 2015, Audi will use the V10 engine in the R8, that will help the supercar to have a maximum power of 500 hp.
