Luxury car brands are always looking for a leg up on the competition. In that vein, Audi has developed one with the introduction of a “relaxation seat” that now includes a foot massage. All the magic happens in the rear right-hand seat, and Audi showed as much when it brought the A8L to the Munich Airport to demonstrate its latest technological breakthrough.
A number of strangers were invited to step inside the cabin of the A8L to experience the new massage features first-hand.
Just when it seemed like Audi was done promoting the all-new A8, here comes a new video showcasing more goodies that are available exclusively to the flagship luxury sedan. The whole idea of a seat with a massage function isn’t new in this segment. In fact, just about every luxury vehicle in this segment has something like it. But Audi’s taking it to the next level with an electrically adjustable footrest affixed to the backrest of the front passenger seat. Mind you; this isn’t a standard footrest. It has a full-massage capability and a heating mechanism that helps warm your feet.
All that comes on top of what you can already expect from the Audi A8L. Take its back massage feature, for example. That is as good as it gets in this segment, thanks in large part to 18 triple inflatable air bubbles that are all incorporated into the seat. Add the electrically operated head restraints that allow the person to nestle himself into the seat, all while enjoying a full-body massage experience while on-the-go.

Not surprisingly, Audi was quick to showcase its new technological offering to the masses. A number of strangers were invited to step inside the cabin of the A8L to experience the new massage features first-hand. Judging by the looks on their faces, all of them seem to have gotten pretty comfortable while enjoying Audi’s new massage feature. I’d probably have the same reaction too if I were offered a chance to try out the new feature. Then again, Audi would probably have a difficult time in asking me to leave the A8L once I get into the groove of the massage.
