Audi previewed the A6 Avant e-Tron Concept and it is a near-production form already; in terms of aesthetics, at least. The automaker has shown us how it will look on the outside, given us a few details about the powertrains, etc., but has not provided any information about the cabin or the tech. The production version of the A6 Avant e-Tron Concept is expected to come out in 2024, so we’ll probably have to wait for a while before Audi throws light on it.

What’s Special About The A6 Avant e-Tron Concept?

The A6 Avant e-Tron will be underpinned on the same PPE platform that will also be seen on many future Audi and Porsche models.

The Concept features a dual-motor setup that puts out 469 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, combined.

The wagon will feature an 800-volt, 270 kW charging capacity that can add 186 miles of range in just 10 minutes. It can even recuperate from five- to 80-percent in less than 25 minutes

Audi noted that the concept is equipped with a 100 kWh battery pack. The range is said to be around 435 miles on a single charge, but these seem to be as per the WLTP cycle. So, expect the EPA to rate it at under 400 miles. These figures are for the single-motor rear-wheel-drive model, but the company didn’t reveal the power outputs for that model. It will come with an 800-volt, 270 kW charging capacity that can add 186 miles of range (WLTP cycle) in just 10 minutes. It can recuperate from five- to 80-percent in less than 25 minutes.

In the lower, not-so-powerful trims, it will take less than seven seconds to 62 mph from rest. But in the high-performance models, you’ll be able to do it in under four seconds

The base versions with lower power outputs will be able to sprint to 62 mph from rest in under seven seconds, whereas the high-performance version will be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in well under four seconds.

How Does It Look On The Outside?

Audi has also equipped ultra-sleek LED headlights. They come with daytime running lights, the design or graphic for which can be configured by the owners

The A6 Avant e-Tron Concept’s design traits are quite similar to the other electric Audi models. Up front you get the signature closed Singleframe grille. There are ultra-sleek LED headlights that give it a mean look. Audi will allow owners to configure the daytime running lights graphics/design. For what it’s worth, they will be carried over to the production version as well. The headlights also double up as a projector that you can point at a wall and use to play video games from the cabin, but there’s no word if this will be retained or not.

The side profile looks proportionate despite the chiseled silhouette. The concept is seen riding on big 22-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile tires. Overall, it looks quite nice

The side profile looks very neat and proportionate, despite all the cuts and creases. The concept is seen riding on big 22-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile tires. The A-, B-, and C- pillars are blacked out. An aluminum strip runs from the A-pillar to the rear spoiler to break the black monotony. It sounds a little overdone, but looks quite classy in images. Overall, the profile looks neat and I personally dig it.

There’s a full-width LED bar at the rear that features sequential lighting. You also get a bumper that looks quite aggressive with the silver strips in it

At the rear, there’s a full-width LED bar that features sequential lighting. The bumper looks quite aggressive with the silver strips, but it suits the overall character and persona of the wagon. Audi noted that the A6 Avant e-Tron Concept’s drag coefficient is 0.24, which is just 0.02 points higher than the Sportback model’s rating. As for the dimensions, they are the same as the A6 Sportback e-Tron’s. It measures 195.3 inches in length, 77.2 inches in width, and 56.7 inches in height.

The Audi A6 e-Tron Avant is expected to come out sometime in 2024. Until then, we’ll have to do with the concept.
