It’s getting ever closer to production and that means that we have more chances than ever to spy it out in the open. That’s right, folks, we have more spy shots of Bentley's->ke15 upcoming Bentayaga SUV out doing some cold-weather testing way up north in Sweden. This new high-riding luxury machine is based on the same platform as the upcoming Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne.->ke212 That means weight should be relatively low (for a Bentley) and the company is promising lots of performance. Bentley is claiming this will be one of the world’s fastest off-roaders, with a top speed in the 200 mph ballpark.
We still don’t have a lot of info, and these spy shots are not doing a lot to help. Each car is covered in lots of heavy plastic cladding that serve to hide the real details underneath. Things to notice do include the massive brakes tucked under those alloys and the dual exhaust outlets that appear to each house two exhausts. Bentley may be pushing some sort of quad exhaust system. Bentley is expected to pull the sheets off this thing later this year, so there is not too much longer to wait.

Why it matters
The world of ultra-luxury SUVs is mostly limited to what Range Rover offers at the top of its lineup, but companies like Porsche and BMW have proven that there is a huge market for fast luxury off-roaders. Volkswagen is trying to increase sales across all of its brands at a dramatic pace, and the best way to get Bentley sales up is by entering a new market entirely. It may be frumpy to look at, but it will be fast, full of luxury, and it will likely sell out in minutes.

The Bentley Bentayga may be a silly name, but this upcoming SUV could spell big changes and big sales for the luxury marque. Based on the new Volkswagen family SUV platform that will underpin the Bentley, the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Tiguan, the Bentayga will roll into show rooms with a the turbocharged V-8 engine from the Continental, and an estimated top speed of 200 mph. This will be the fastest and most luxurious SUV on the planet.
