The BMW iX and i4 will hit the U.S. dealers this March, and the German luxury automaker is already preparing to make a big splash once customers can finally get their hands on one. Sweetening this deal is the announcement that the iX and i4 will come with free charging at Electrify America.

The free charging program will be good for two years, which will start at the time of the vehicle's purchase. BMW iX and i4 owners will have access to Electrify America's 3,000-strong charing network. The complimentary charging is good for 30 minutes at a time and should reduce the cost of charging for the owners of these BMW electric vehicles (EVs).

Electrify America has the largest open network of ultra-fast chargers in the United States. The chargers are capable of providing 150 kW to 350 kW of charging, which is some of the fastest charging speeds available today in the country. As a result, a 10-minute charge with the BMW iX is good for 90 miles and 108 miles for the i4.

Making things even more convenient is that the charging stations can be viewed at the myBMWapp or the Electrify America app, which are linked to the vehicles' built-in navigation systems. This integration also lets you see what charging slots are available at any given moment.

To date, Electrify America has 800 charging stations and about 3,500 individual ultra-fast chargers across the country. While this number is the largest among open network charging stations, it still pales in comparison to Tesla's Supercharger network, which consists of 31,498 Superchargers at 3,476 stations as of the end of 2021.

With this free charging promotion in mind, would this convince you to buy a BMW EV instead of a Tesla?
