For the first time, BMW outsold Mercedes-Benz in June. After worldwide sales of the two brands were totaled, BMW had sold 150,285 cars in June, while Mercedes sold only 117,200. The BMW sales were a 15.1% increase over the same period last year. Chinese sales, however, zoomed ahead by 63.2%
 
The BMW mini set a record for sales in June, at 22,465.
 
Rolls-Royce sales, however, were flat: 73 cars in June, exactly the same number sold in June of last year.
 
So far, BMW brands hold a substantial lead over Daimer-Benz in worldwide auto sales. January to June totals were 730,285 for BMW and 617,700 for the various brands of Daimler-Benz, including Smart.
