BMW Teases the 2019 Z4 First Edition Ahead of Tomorrow’s Debut
Unfortunately, the photos don’t tease the actual car but depict a conceptual version with exaggerated features. We can see overly aggressive headlamps, massive bumper intakes, and a heavily raked windshield. We know that this isn’t a depiction of the actual car as we’ve already seen leaked photos of the roadster in M40i trim.
We do, however, get one valuable hint about the upcoming Z4. In the brief text that comes with the pictures, BMW confirms that the roadster will be initially launched as a First Edition model. A usual practice nowadays, the First Edition is usually limited to a few hundred cars and features a few extras compared to the regular series. Nothing fancy though beyond a special paint and bespoke trim badge.

The upcoming Z4 is a very big deal because it shares underpinnings with the next-generation Toyota Supra. The German roadster will arrive with a multitude of four- and six-cylinder drivetrains, most of which Toyota will offer in the Supra too. Highlights will include a new digital instrument cluster, revised dynamics, and a more aerodynamic body. Production will begin in 2018, and the U.S. version will hit showrooms in 2019.
