Brabus Gives The Porsche Taycan Turbo S The Sporty Look It Deserves
For now, there were no changes made under the hoodby Alina Moore, on
With a starting price of $186,350, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S doesn’t come cheap, but for that money, you get some impressive performance. It’s one of the fastest electric sedans on the market today and is capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in under 2.5 seconds. Obviously, the performance credentials are in place, but could it look better? Brabus certainly thinks so, and that’s the focal point of its latest package of the Porsche Taycan Turbo and Turbo S.
Impressive look for both the exterior and the interior
For the Taycan Turbo S, Brabus focused most of its attention on improving its look, inside and out. On the outside, the tuner is offering sporty aerodynamic-enhancement components developed using 3D scanning and CAD technology and made from exposed carbon.
Up front, there is a new carbon fiber spoiler with flaps on both ends - it not only makes the front view even more aerodynamic but also reduces front-axle lift at high speeds. The side air intakes are also made from carbon fiber and offer central carbon surrounds that improve the airflow to the radiators.
In the back, Brabus installed a three-piece spoiler and a carbon diffuser that will both reduce rear-axle lift and will enhance handling stability at high speeds. Finally, carbon strips applied to the rocker panels and the flaps in front of the rear wheel arches will give the car a sportier look.
Brabus is offering a wide range of wheel designs and colors to choose from, but the car from the press pictures is equipped with some very cool-looking 22-inch Monoblock Z “Platinum Edition” forged ones. They are finished in black with various polished sections and will be wrapped in performance tires offered by Continental, Pirelli, or YOKOHAMA. Bright green brake calipers give the Taycan a sportier look, and also match the rest of the paint scheme inside and out. Finally, Brabus is also offering a special suspension setup that will lower the vehicle’s height by 20 millimeters (0.8 in).
The interior is wrapped in a combination of soft and breathable, highly durable leather and Alcantara. They can be had in either the black and bright green scheme you see in these pictures, or in any other desired color. The headliner is made from Alcantara, while carbon fiber elements are featurd on the instrument panel, center console, and door panels. The aluminum pedals and footrest are also finished in bright green, while the scuff plates are made from carbon fiber, and their color alternates between red and white. And, in order to create a very cool effect, 48 switches, surrounds and air vents in the cockpit are finished in bright green.
Are there any changes made under the hood?
Unfortunately, Brabus left the powertrain untouched, which is not necessarily a bad thing, since the Taycan Turbo S is already a very powerful car.
Powered by two electric motors, the Turbo S delivers up to 750 horsepower when the overboost function is on. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds and can hit a top speed of 161 mph. The only problem with the Taycan Turbo S is that while it delivers amazing performance, it sucks when it comes to range. The EPA rated the electric sedan at only 194 miles, which is way under its main competitor, the Tesla Model S.
