We live in a world where EVs are taking over, and just like with the rest of the world, the tuners will have to do some serious changes if they want to stay relevant. With no V-8 or inline-six engines to modify, they will have to adapt to the current reality. Brabus is one of the first tuners to offer improvements for electric cars, and while right now it didn't find a solution to improve the power output of the Mercedes-Benz EQS, it did manage to improve the car's range a little.

Brabus Upgrades for the Mercedes-AMG EQS

Changes start with the exterior where Brabus is offering a custom body kit made from carbon fiber developed in the wind tunnel that will significantly improve the car's aerodynamic features. Updates will include a new front spoiler combined with a carbon lip that reduces drag and minimizes front-axle lift. The side air intakes are also made from carbon fiber, and so are the air deflection elements installed in front of the rear wheel arches. In the rear, there is a new diffuser and a new spoiler.

Brabus' EQS rides on a new set of tailor-made wheels. They are offered in sizes from 20 to 22 inches and come in numerous designs. For example, the car shown in the press pictures rides on 22-inch Brabus Monoblock Z wheels in a ten-spoke design and wrapped in tires sized 255/35 ZR 22 at the front and 295/30 ZR 22 in the back. The tuner also tweaked the air suspension, so that the EQS now sits a little bit closer to the ground: 15 millimeters (0.6 inches) at the front and 20 mm (0.8 in) at the rear.

For the interior, the tuner is offering its customers an endless list of possibilities, based on your own personal taste. Updates will include high-quality upholstery, carbon fiber, and aluminum, ambient lighting, special logos, and floor mats, plus a wide variety of colors and designs.

Tuner's Can't Do Powertrain Enhancements Quite Yet

Unfortunately, Brabus offers no updates to the electric powertrain, but that's not a really big deal since the EQS is a very powerful sedan from factory. In the States, you can choose between the EQS 450+ and the EQS 580 4Matic. The first one is powered by one electric motor that delivers a total of 329 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque, while the latter has a dual permanently synchronous electric motor with 516 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque. The EQS 450+ offers a range of 350 miles, while the EQS 580 4Matic goes down to 340 miles.

Brabus didn't modify the output figures in any way, but the exterior changes it made improved the drag coefficient by 7.2 percent. This means there will be less driving resistance, which of course improves the range. Brabus says that in speed range between 100 and 140 km/h the EQS range will be increased by 7.0-percent.
