The 2021 Maserati MC20, the company’s first full-fledged sports car in a really long time, is set to debut today, September 9. The unveiling will take place in the evening, but we can already have a look at the new MC20 thanks to a handful of photos that have surfaced the web earlier than they should have.
The 2021 Maserati MC20 looks surprisingly fresh
Maserati’s current lineup isn’t exactly charming. Most of the cars are fairly old and the Levante isn’t the prettiest SUV out there.
As the latest vehicle in the lineup, the MC20 is a breath of fresh air.
Not just because it’s a sleek-looking supercar with butterfly doors. It basically introduces a new design language beyond the familiar front grille and the taillights.

The MC20 seems to be notably smaller than the MC12, its spiritual predecessor. But that’s hardly surprising given that the MC20 is built around the carbon-fiber tub of the tiny Alfa Romeo 4C. It’s also less aggressive than the MC12 aerodynamic-wise, missing a massive rear wing and the long tail. It looks sporty, but it also feels light and somewhat elegant. It’s also cleaner, more stylish alternative to the Ferrari F8 Tributo and Lamborghini Huracan, if you will.
The 2021 Maserati MC20 features a luxurious interior
The MC20 has nothing in common with the Alfa Romeo 4C inside the cabin.
While the latter was a spartan coupe with almost no comfort features, the MC20 seems both comfortable and luxurious.
The leaked photos reveal a leather- and Alcantara-wrapped dashboard and door panels, and race-inspired seats that are also wrapped in fine and expensive materials.
We can also spot carbon-fiber and aluminum trim, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a digital screen for the instrument cluster and infotainment system.
The 2021 Maserati MC20 will also feature an all-electric version
We already knew that Maserati developed a new turbocharged V-6 engine for the MC20. The leaked photos also come with some information, including the fact that the V-6 displaces three liters and cranks out 630 horsepower. According to the source, it will hit 62 mph from a standing start in 2.9 seconds and 124 mph in eight seconds. Its top speed will be rated at 202 mph.
But the really big news is that the MC20 will be available with an all-electric powertrain.
There’s no specific info on the motor(s) and the battery, but leaked information claims that the EV will get from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds. It will also be able to travel for at least 380 km (more than 230 miles) on a single charge.
The Maserati MC20 debuts later today, so stick around for official info on the company’s latest supercar.
