BREAKING - This Is The New, A90-Gen 2020 Toyota Supra Before You're Supposed to See It

We have something special for you today - the first look at the long-awaited Toyota Supra A90. SupraMKV forum leaked the picture that clearly shows the front end of the new Toyota Supra. Of course, nothing is official as of yet, but I am really confident that this is the real deal. It shows the Toyota Supra being transported by a car transport wagon. The photo we have does show clear links with the FT-1 concept Toyota presented five years ago. That is a really good thing as the FT-1 looks rather stunning. The first public image of the new Toyota Supra in grey is the biggest news today, and I can say right now that this car does not look like the Z4 as some have feared.

It Looks Better Than The BMW Z4

I think Toyota has been rather courageous to create the new Supra with basically the same styling cues of the concept. Sure, not everything is the same - the front lights, while somewhat reminiscent of the lights on the last Supra, are a bit chubbier compared with the FT-1 concept. Yet, the pointy nose, side air intakes that basically frame the front lights, and massive front intakes clearly represent the links with the FT-1. More importantly, the double bubble roof is here, as are the blacked-out A-pillars. All in all, it is safe to say that I, personally, find the new Supra quite sexy. It's better looking than the Z4. That’s for sure.

The 2020 Toyota Supra Will Be Fast And Appealing With All BMW Tech Onboard

The long-anticipated fifth generation Toyota Supra took a dramatically different approach to design compared with the previous generations. It is, basically, a car developed with the help of BMW. It will be produced next to it on the same production line as the BMW Z4 in Austria, and it will share the same drivetrain layout as the Beemer. A 3.0-liter, turbocharged, inline-six, RWD, and the last generation of the ZF transmission. However, considering it looks so much different compared to the Z4, I can only assume it will drive differently as well. After all, that is exactly what the Toyota Supra development team have been raving about for the past couple of years. Despite the driving characteristics, the Supra is most likely to get a 335-horsepower version of the engine that will enable the iconic Japanese sports car to accelerate to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds. We can expect some more powerful versions in the future - including the GRMN.

On the lower end, the new Toyota Supra will most likely get a BMW sourced 2.0-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder with 260 horsepower. I would not be surprised if this version ends up being the best seller. It will be considerably cheaper than the one with the 3.0-liter, it has a great name (c’mon, it's a Supra), and it will be cheaper than a Beemer while sharing all the good stuff with it.

Where Will the License Plates Go?

Alfa Romeo owners had a lot of issues with this. After all, Alfa Romeo managed to integrate the plate holder at the side of the bumper. I am not even sure that this is possible with the new Toyota Supra. What is possible, however, is the integration of the license plate just under that pointy nose. I think it will go there, but don’t take my word for it. We will have to wait for the debut at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show to see the final solution.

Although I do not have much on hand experience with the Supra, I am somehow ecstatic about this one. I am probably influenced by all this hype. Yet, I am really, really glad it looks good and on point. I can't wait to see the inside, which may take a bit more BMW shape than I’d like, but let’s wait and see.
