Brembo Unveils New B-M8 Calipers At 2015 SEMA
While most of our attention went to the numerous production and concept vehicles unveiled at the 2015 SEMA Show, this year’s event also hosted the unveiling of a new generation of calipers. I’m talking about Brembo’s B-M8, an all-new eight-piston caliper that has won SEMA’s Best Engineered New Product award.
Developed using an innovative 4D technology casting process, a first for the automotive industry, the B-M8 is an eight-piston monobloc caliper with four pads suitable for rotors up to 16.5 by 1.5-inches. The all-new caliper was specifically created for the front braking systems of trucks, SUVs and large high-performance sedans and were validated for torques of up to 4,204 pound-feet.
Its companion caliper, the B-M4 (for rotors up to 15 by 1.1-inches), is suitable for the rear braking systems of larger vehicles as well as front applications for smaller cars.
All told, the B-M8 and B-M4 combo is ideal for a variety of pickup trucks and SUVs, including the Ford F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado, Ram 1500, Ford Expedition, Porsche Cayenne, and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It should also be a good option for beefed-up versions of full-size sedans such as the BMW 7 Series or the Cadillac CT6.
"We are breaking new ground with the launch of the Brembo B-M8 and B-M4 calipers at SEMA,” said Dan Sandberg, President and CEO of Brembo North America. “This new caliper aligns with Brembo’s principles of developing new and innovative products with a designed flair. We’ve taken our expertise in the motorsports world and applied it to large truck and SUV braking systems to create one of the largest and best looking calipers in the Brembo line.”
The Brembo B-M8 and B-M4 will be available for purchase in 2016 from Race Technologies.

Why it matters
High-performance cars and SUVs aren’t just about horsepower and torque. These vehicles need solid stopping power as well, and this is where products like these come in. The big news here is that the B-M8 isn’t your regular Brembo caliper. With it, the brand introduces new technology and building techniques to the market, while also enabling consumers and customizers access to caliper designs usually found on the race track.
What’s more, the B-M8 and B-M4 also deliver a design aesthetic that fills the large wheel openings of today’s 22-inch truck and SUV wheels, as well as a wide range of colors. Usually available in red, yellow, and black, these calipers will also be offered in white, with special colors such as bright green, gold, and silver to be launched in the near future.
Needless to say, Brembo did it again, proving that it deserves its place at the top of the automotive brake systems industry.
