The Purosangue has been Ferrari’s spotlight-stealer in recent times. Ferrari has been busy with other projects like the one-off SP48 Unica, but the Purosangue has been the talk of the town. But, that said, we’ve spotted quite a few camouflaged projects of it in recent times. First, we saw a V12 GT Chassis test mule, and now, our spy photographers caught an early prototype for the Ferrari SF90VS. This is a hardcore version of the SF90 Stradale and is expected to be revealed in 2023. So, what’s the scoop that we have so far?

What's Better Than An SF90 Stradale? A Hardcore SF90 Stradale!

The SF90VS, or if you prefer the codename F173VS, has been spied in Maranello. In case you’re wondering, VS stands for Versione Speciale. The SF90VS has some elements on the outside that differentiate it from the standard model. For starters, it features the S-duct hood, like the one on the 488 Pista. You can also see a lower front splitter and a tweaked bumper. You can also see a lot of stickers and funky camo that make the prototype look like it's ready to hit the track. Ferrari doesn’t even bother hiding much of it. Liking the attention, eh?

Although a track-focused version, reports suggest that the SF90VS will be a street-legal model. There’s no word on the powertrain yet, but we should be hearing about it soon. The standard SF90, for your reference, is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine and three electric motors assisting it. Combined, the powerplant produces 986 ponies and 590 pound-feet of oomph. Power is routed to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Expect a lot of tweaks to the driving dynamics to make the SF90VS a true-blue hardcore version of the hybrid car.

As stated earlier, the SF90VS will be revealed sometime in 2023. It could be a limited–production model and will surely be priced higher than the standard SF90 Stradale. But that said, we should see and hear more of this car leading up to its launch.
