• Building A Lykan Hypersport Requires Two Years And A Porsche Boxster

And way less money!

W Motors unveiled the Lykan HyperSport at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show. With only 10 units being built and a starting price of $3.69 million, people didn’t pay too much attention to the supercar. But when it made its appearance in the "Fast and Furious 7" people realized it is actually a very cool car. A total of 10 units were specially built for the movie, but a total of nine were crashed. The surviving unit was auctioned back in 2021. As you can imagine chances to see a HyperSport in real life are limited, and the chances to drive one are pretty close to nonexistent.

When you really want to own a HyperSport – even if not a real one – you get creative. This is exactly what Casey Putsch, founder of Genius Garage did. While the HyperSport is very expensive, he bought a 2007 Porsche Boxster and went from there. Just as a heads up, if you do some serious research you can buy a 2007 Porsche Boxster for a little over $20,000. He needed more than two years to transform the Boxster into a running, fully functional Lykan HyperSport, but the result is quite impressive. His project was not inspired by the supercar unveiled back in 2013, but by the one used in the "Fast and Furious 7."

While the exterior is quite similar to the actual car, things are different under the hood. We have to remind you that the HyperSport is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter flat-six engine that delivers a total of 780 horsepower and 708 pound-feet of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and up to a top speed of 245 mph. The 2007 Boxster on the other hand is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.7-liter boxer six that only manages 245 horsepower. This means the replica will not deliver the same performance figures as the real car, but we doubt anyone was expecting that.

The interior is also not as futuristic or technologically advanced as the original supercar, but there is always room for more changes. But that is something someone else will have to deal with, as Genius Garage announced this replica is looking for a new owner but didn’t offer any details on the asked price. One thing is for sure: is not going to be as expensive as the actual Lykan Hypersport.
