We keep seeing reports about an upcoming financial crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, but they're not stopping many luxury companies from rolling out new products. That's the case with Jacob & Co., which just released a very expensive watch. It's called the Bugatti Chiron 16 Cylinder Tourbillon, it's inspired by the French supercar, and it costs an eye-watering $280,000.

The price is obviously ridiculous, even for a timepiece, but the Chiron Tourbillon is a work of art. And it features a miniature replica of the Chiron's W-16 engine, including detailed turbochargers, crankshaft, and pistons. What's more, the pistons move up and down, just like in a real engine, while a functioning "fuel reserve" will keep you updated on the watch's 60-hour battery life.

The movement assembly is suspended in the case with four shocks that resemble actual car shocks. The entire movement floats up and down within the case, a unique feature patented by Jacob & Co. specifically for this watch.

Granted, the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon is awfully expensive at $280,000. That's enough to buy a decent house or even a brand-new McLaren or Ferrari. You can also take advantage of all the new car discounts available in April 2020 and buy two or even three luxury cars for the same amount. However, people who can afford a Bugatti Chiron won't find it very hard to spend 10-percent of the supercar's value on an extravagant wearable item.
