Anxious to finally see a V-Sport version of the Cadillac Escalade in showrooms? Well, you'll have to wait a while longer as Cadillac isn't planning on one until the next-gen SUV arrives. However, the luxury brand just debuted the Cadillac Sport at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Sadly though, it's not as sporty as the badge suggests.

Don't Get Too Excited

Unfortunately, the Escalade Sport is nothing more than just a black-accented version of the boxy SUV. Unlike the regular model, it features gloss-black exterior trim, including the front grille, black window frames, body-side moldings, and a unique Midnight Silver finish for the multi-spoke, 22-inch wheels.

Heck, Cadillac didn't even bother to add new trim or extra standard items inside the cabin. And more importantly, there are no drivetrain upgrades to talk about.

Sure, the 6.2-liter V-8 engine is plenty powerful at 420 horsepower, but that's not so impressive now that the Lincoln Navigator's 3.5-liter V-6 engine cranks out a solid 450 horses.

At Least There's Some Variety

It's also the first special-edition version of the current Escalade, so there is hope that Cadillac will deliver something truly special not too far in the future.
