Callaway started by offering aftermarket turbocharger systems for BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz cars. Its first product was launched in 1977 and was a C1 VW turbo kit. It continued with building a racing engine for IndyCar specification and after that, a turbocharged kit for Alfa Romeo's 2.5-liter GTV-6 coupé.

It was this last project that caught the attention of Dave McLellan - Chief Engineer of the Corvette - and it was in 1987 when Callaway offered its first twin-turbo Corvette under the Regular Production Option (RPO) B2K program. Now, 35 years later, Callaway celebrates the program's anniversary with the launch of a special appearance package for the 2022 Corvette Z51.

What does the B2K 35th Anniversary Edition Callaway Corvette offer?

Back in 1988, Callaway's C4-based Sledgehammer was able to set a record-breaking top speed of 254.76 mph. You would expect a package that celebrates the 35th anniversary and pays tribute to that car to do more in terms of performance than just show off its good looks, but unfortunately, that's not the case. That said, it doesn't mean the B2K 35th Anniversary Edition Callaway Corvette is less impressive.

The package includes a carbon-fiber body kit designed to improve stability at high speed by properly managing airflow surrounding the vehicle. The exterior package will include a carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber rocker panel extensions, a carbon fiber gap rear spoiler, and a carbon fiber diffuser assembly.

Callaway is also offering a new, stainless steel exhaust system with signature Double-D, rolled-edge end pipes.

The car will ride on a new set of fully-forged wheels in a refreshed nine-spoke design and sized 19” x 9.0” up front and 20” x 11.5”. There are five different finishes to choose from: Ceramic Polished, Satin Black, Gloss Titanium, Matte Bronze, and Black Chrome PVD. The new wheels will improve performance by shedding over 26 lbs (12 kg) of rotational mass compared to the original equipment.

The interior doesn't offer many changes and it will only include hard-coat anodized aluminum alloy door sill panels, carpeted floor mat set embroidered with 35th Anniversary wreath, leather heel pad, and CNC-machined, hard-coat anodized aluminum alloy accelerator, brake, and dead pedal covers. A special 35th Anniversary logo and a unique serial number designation can be found both on the interior and the exterior.

As you can imagine, the B2K 35th Anniversary Edition doesn't come cheap The package itself is priced at $34,960 and does not include the price of the C8 Corvette Stingray Z51. The 2022 C8 Corvette Stingray Z51 starts from $68,490. If you have the money, you will be happy to find out that Callaway is already accepting orders for this new package.
