Lately, it seems like it’s Toyota GR Supra against the world, as the car is constantly being pitted against other, more powerful vehicles. What’s impressive is that the Supra tends to come out on top, even when pitted against V-8-powered vehicles. Speaking of V-8s, YouTube channel Sam CarLegion has managed to secure a Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupe in order to go up against the GR Supra. Will it win or will it become part of the statistics?

In the previous race, the GR Supra went up against a more powerful, but heavier Mustang GT Convertible and won. But the Mercedes AMG C63 S is even more powerful and actually lighter than that Mustang.

That said, the Mercedes still weighs a hefty 4,094 pounds (1,857 kg). Power goes to the rear wheels through a nine-speed automatic.

The Toyota GR Supra is, once again, the lighter competitor at 3,304 pounds (1,499 kg).

Power is sent to the rear axle through a ZF eight-speed automatic.

The two cars do a total of five races – four from a dig and one from a 50 km/h (31 mph) roll. Customary to the channel, the first runs are in normal mode. Mercedes slept on the first start, giving the Supra an easy win (stay focused Sam). For the second race, Sam manages to react on time, but the featherweight GR Supra still manages to pull ahead.

Things aren’t much different in sport mode, as the Supra just rockets off the line. The more powerful AMG C63 S closes in fast at the second half of the quarter-mile, but it’s too late. The rolling race is the only one done with traction control off. The Mercedes easily takes the win here, but according to Sam “the Supra isn’t that far off”.

The moral of the story is that if you want an early lead, you need a lighter car. And we also confirmed, once again, that the Supra is insanely capable pound for pound.
