Auction price is approaching $150,000 with two days left to bid

I’m on record saying that the BMW M1 is, in my mind, the most beautiful M car ever built. It didn’t come without competition, though, because the second car on my list is the BMW Z8 Roadster. The latter is an aesthetic tour de force, a creation born from the design genius of Henrik Fisker. Only 5,703 Z8s were built, so if you’re in the market for one, you’re going to have a hard time getting a hold of it. Fortunately, a BMW dealership in Cincinnati is in possession of one. It’s up for auction on Bring-A-Trailer, and the highest bid is approaching $150,000 as of this writing with two days left in the auction. Want to scratch that long-festering itch to own a Z8 Roadster? Now’s your chance to do it. Just make sure you load up on the Benjamins.

It has just 9,546 miles on it, a staggering low mileage number for a car of its status

Here’s what we know about this particular BMW Z8: it’s absolutely divine. Beyond that somewhat useful description, this Z8 is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic with a Black Nappa leather interior. It also has just 9,546 miles on it, a staggering low mileage number for a car of its status. Under the Z8’s hood sits a 4.9-liter V-8 engine that produced 394 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to a six-speed manual transmission, making it ideally suited to be a great driver’s car despite its age. The model also includes a few factory add-ons, including the optional hardtop. The soft top is also included and is said to be in good condition. Likewise, all features, functions, and accessories are said to work properly.

Most importantly, it’s ownership, and dealer service records are complete. It also has a clean Carfax, has the original owner’s manual and window sticker, original keys, OEM storage bags, and a clean Ohio title.

The question now is whether the car is worth the skyrocketing price it’s already fetching. There are two days left in the auction, and the car is already approaching $150,000. Is it still worth making a run at it?

This particular Z8 has had three owners in the past, though it was the second owner that primarily kept it throughout its existence

I’d say yes. There aren’t that many Z8 Roadsters popping up for sale these days, so if you’re looking for one, now’s as good a time as any to cross that car off your bucket list. This particular Z8 has had three owners in the past, though it was the second owner that primarily kept it throughout its existence. The last and current owner of the Z8 Roadster sourced it to the dealership to sell.

It’s hard to overstate how incredible the Z8 Roadster is. It wasn’t the most pleasant car to drive, but it sure was a looker. Henrik Fisker deserves a lion’s share of the credit for that, and it speaks to his design acumen that the Z8 still looks exquisite to this day. Like the M1 before it, the Z8 Roadster is one of the rare BMWs that has an identifiable design. More importantly, the Z8 is turning into a legacy BMW similar to the M1. We’re probably not going to see a car like this again in the future so if there’s a chance to own one in the present, take it and run away with it.
