Just like any other superstar athlete, Michael Jordan knew his sports cars and supercars. He’s known to have owned anything in between a Corvette C5, Ferrari 550 Maranello, slant-nosed Porsche 911 Turbo, Corvette C4 ZR-1, and the W140-generation Mercedes-Benz S600 tweaked by Lorinser.

The latter is now up for sale, if the ad on Beverly Hills Car Club is to be taken seriously.

The W140-gen S-Class is well worthy of a sports superstar owner

Mercedes-Benz assembled the W140 S-Class between 1991 and 1998. In that time, the luxo-barge from Stuttgart was offered with a six-cylinder engine, a V-8, and a V-12. The V-12 powered the S600 model, and it blessed the driver with 402 horses and 420 pound-feet of twist.

According to Car and Driver, Lorinser didn’t tweak Jordan’s S600 mechanically, so all the tuner did was imbue the body kit (i.e. make it wider) and add a set of flashy 18-inch monoblock wheels to go with the custom dual exhaust setup.

Come to think of it, some of today’s tuners might want to sit down and take notes from Lorinser - that’s exactly how you customize a luxury car that’s supposed to offer some level of discretion with a little spice sprinkled here and there.

Interestingly enough, the car’s title is signed by both Michael Jordan and Juanita Jordan, his wife at the time. The ad mentions that the car went on sale on eBay on August 13, and the auction will end on August 23.
