Grab a piece of Ferrari’s rich Formula One history

Christmas may be over this year, but it’s never too late to buy yourself a cool present. If you’re a fan of Ferraris, limited-edition supercars, and Formula One, not one but two examples of the awesome Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1 are currently listed for sale.

New Arrival! A lot has been said about F1 legend Fernando Alonso this year, but for Throwback Thursday, we go back to...

Unveiled in December 2011, exactly seven years ago, the 599 GTB 60F1 was designed to celebrate 60 years of race victories in Formula One. Based on the 599 GTB Fiorano with the HGTE package, which improved handling, the 60F1 was limited to only 40 units, so it’s among the rarest modern Ferraris out there.

It’s not cheap though. While the unit sold by Marshall Goldman Motor Sales doesn’t have a sticker, the example available through Gayet Autosport costs €550,000, which converts to around $630,000.

What Makes it this Expensive?

Well, the 60F1 edition is far from standard. As mentioned above, it comes with all the cool features from the HGTE package, including the stiffer springs, recalibrated shock absorbers, lowered ride height, and optimized tires. It also features shorter gear shifts, new engine software for improved response, and a louder exhaust note.

On the outside, the 60F1 stands out thanks to new carbon-fiber components and a livery inspired by the 375 Formula One car from the 1950s, combining a red body with white highlights on the side skirts, front bumper, and roof. Ferrari also customized the interior, but specifications depend on whether the car was built for the European or U.S. market. For instance, while the European version features Sabelt bucket seats, the U.S. version comes with Recaro units, both wrapped in Alcantara for a race-inspired look.

As a brief reminder, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano was discontinued after the 2012 model year when it was replaced by the F12berlinetta. The latter was upgraded and renamed the 812 Superfast in 2017.
