A 1971 AMC Javelin Trans-Am race car has been put up for sale by the Canepa Collection and, boy, does it come with quite a hefty price tag.

According to people in the know, this particular vehicle was built by Roger Penske Racing back in 1971 and was also the last car ever driven by Mark Donahue before hanging up his Trans-Am racing shoes. Likewise, the seller also describes the 1971 race car as an actual 1970 model that was retro-fitted for the 1971 season thanks in large part to the car's successful runner-up finish during the 1970 season. And wouldn't you know it, the car improved on its 1970 second-place finish to win the championship a year later.

And, oh, as far as that aforementioned price, the privilege of taking this vehicle home is going to cost $950,000.
