The new fuel-economy regulations gave a lot of trouble to all auto-makers and made them give up to a lot of RWD models, but it seems that Chrysler will keep its RWD LX platform around for the next-generation Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger.

According to TheCarConnection, the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger will receive a major makeover for the 2011 model year, but the company has no money to switch to front-wheel drive, even if this could improve the fuel economy.

The revamp in the works for the early part of the next decade will be fairly substantial. Chrysler is said to have decided that a bold styling statement is critical to the lineup’s sales success–but certain features of the car, like its low roofline, will change to give the cars a more updated look.
