One hundred forty thousand people descend upon the Las Vegas convention center for the largest aftermarket automotive trade show in the world. Welcome to SEMA 2018, where many of the top automotive aftermarket manufacturers, builders, and shops come together to learn, shop, and show off the best products and some of the best custom rides in the game. I overheard one SEMA organizer saying that if you were to walk up and down every aisle in every pavilion you would walk almost 54 miles and I believe it! Sadly, most of SEMA is very boring and very repetitive (I mean seriously, how many booths about tires does one show need?) but, there are always those automotive gems to look at and once in a while a new product that just makes you stop and say "wow." So, here are a few of those cars that made me stop and actually take a look.

TopSpeed At SEMA 2018

This 300SL Gullwing Body on a mid-2000's SLK32 AMG chassis was one hell of a show stopper in the Toyo Tires booth. With an AMG V-6 supercharged engine, it blended modern performance and reliability with a classic touch. I was not so sure about the blue interior and the stacks of fake money but I liked the idea for sure.

Take an already insane sub-10-second car like the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, replace most of the body panels with carbon fiber, subtract the supercharger, and add two 6875 PTE turbochargers and other goodies and what do you get? Its simple you get the SPEEDKORE carbon Demon of course! This monster was one to look at for sure!

On the other side of the world, this KPGC10 or HAKOSUKA Nissan Skyline was flawlessly executed with carbon fiber accents galore, and check out those velocity stacks on the triple carb setup!

Something about this 1969 Trans-Am by Gunslinger Customs with a 6.2-liter LSX backed by a six-speed automatic transmission caught my eye simply for flawless execution!

This ridiculous widebody M4 was not even inside the show but demanded attention just sitting out in the lobby. I wish I knew more about this car but no information was listed whatsoever.

This Lambo looks so fast the cops are trying to ticket it when parked in the show!

If you have never seen a RAUH-Welt widebody Porsche, they are simply impossibly wide and amazingly done and there were quite a few on hand at the show!

Another notable Porsche was this ridiculously clean Rywire Porsche in the Eibach booth. Amazingly flawless and perfectly executed in my book.

This insanely modified Ford RS200 was in the Ford booth that was rather impressive this year. I particularly like the Clear vented engine cover and the air inlet scoops on the rear roofline.

This monstrosity called the KARLMANN KING will be built and sold in limited numbers as a luxury armored vehicle. With a 6.8-liter V-10 and weighing in at 6,000 kg, or 13,000 pounds, with its armored plating. The Karlmann King will be great when you have to cut through the rough parts of town on your way home.

There are so many notable things at SEMA to share, but to show them all would take just as long as it took to see them all. That’s it for now, but TopSpeed will have more tidbits from the SEMA 2018 for you shortly!
