By all accounts, the Chevrolet Corvette C7-based Genovation GXE is one of the most insane electric cars in the world. Not only does it come with an all-electric motor that sends out 800 horsepower and 718 pound-feet of torque, but the way it does so — in complete silence — is jarring to our sensibilities.

The American-made GXE can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds, cover a quarter-mile in 10 seconds at around 140 mph, and do all that while boasting an EPA range of 175 miles. For all that its car has accomplished, Genovation isn’t done using the GXE to break records. For its latest feat of speed and performance, the all-electric Corvette went to the Thunderhill Raceway in California and casually broke the track’s EV speed record without making any noise, literally and figuratively.

How dominant was the Genovation GXE at the Thunderhill Raceway?

In the case of the Genovation GXE and its record-setting lap time at the Thunderhill Raceway, it’d be safe to say that the Corvette C7-based all-electric performance car was beyond impressive.

With veteran racer and former 24 Hours of Daytona winner Randy Pobst behind the wheel of the 800-horsepower electric sports car, the previous EV lap record in the race track had no chance.

Even more impressive, the GXE’s lap time was the third fastest lap on the race track ever. Unfortunately, the lap time wasn’t categorized as an official lap since no official was present to press an official stopwatch twice in a span of under 90 seconds.

What can I get out of the Genovation GXE and what’s the cost of owning one?

For those who aren’t familiar with Genovation, it’s a US-based manufacturer of electric supercars that has produced a lineup of scintillating, Corvette-based all-electric supercars. One of those models, a prototype version of the GXE that debuted in 2016 and was based on a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, set a Guinness World record for the fastest, street-legal electric car in a standing mile.

Clearly, Genovation is no stranger to setting world and/or lap records. The more recent Genovation GXE — it’s based on a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport — has picked up the mantle as Genovation’s new record-destroying all-electric supercar. Of its many qualities, the GXE is defined largely by an electric motor powertrain that produces an eye-watering 800 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. It’s reportedly capable of hitting 60 mph from an idle position in under three seconds and it can hit a top speed of 220 mph.

If you are like me and you’re interested in buying a Genovation GXE C7, be advised that each unit costs $750,000. Oh, and only 75 units are planned so, at this point, you might find difficulty procuring one since almost all available units, if not all of them, are already accounted for.
