Because the Porsche 911 is a very popular car, the market is now packed with tuners that modify the German sports car. Among them, there are a few shops that do older 911s. Gunther Werks is one of them, and its reinterpretation of the 993-generation 911 is impressive, to say the least. And it's not just a beefed-up 911, but a full-fledged race car that's road legal.

If you're not familiar with Gunther Werks, you should know that it currently offers the limited-edition 400R, a heavily mod The 4.0-liter flat-six under the hood has been developed by Rothsport and features modern tech. The 400R is limited to only 25, and it's quite expensive, with pricing set at $525,000 before options.

The car shown in the video is called The Sting, and it's even more radical than the 400R. For starters, it comes in at roughly 2,500 pounds, at least 150 less than the 400R. The interior is also fitted with race-ready features, like bucket seats, lightweight door panels, racing harnesses, and a rear-seat delete. Gunter Werks says it's the most track-capable car they built to date. Because it's finished in yellow, it reminds me of the iconic RUF Yellowbird, but we're definitely looking at a more intricate and radical car here.

The Porsche 993 is already a classic

The 993 on which this car is based on was introduced back in 1994 as a replacement for the 964. The 993 was a massive departure from the previous generation, with nearly every element redesigned from the ground up, including the engine. The 993 was also the last 911 to feature an air-cooled engine. This generation spawned a variety of models, including an RS model, a GT2, and even a Speedster. Porsche used 3.6- and 3.8-liter engines for this generation, with output going as high as 444 horsepower in the GT2 model. The 993 was discontinued in 1998, with almost 70,000 units built.
