Marvel and Hyundai are currently rolling out a series of product mashups, and the latest is this special edition Kona rocking a slew of Iron Man-inspired upgrades. Recently unveiled in San Diego at the 2018 ComicCon event, the Kona Iron Man Edition is designed to look a bit like the high-tech armored suit Tony Stark flies around in, giving those of us who aren’t genius billionaire playboy philanthropists a chance to make believe.

What Makes The Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition Special

The new Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition arrives hot on the heels of a variety of other Hyundai and Marvel mashups, including a tie-in between the 2019 Veloster Turbo and the new Ant-Man and The Wasp movie.

To help it stand out, the Iron Man Kona gets a raft of exterior upgrades, starting in front where we find a unique fascia that’s meant to mimic the shape of the Iron Man mask. It also comes decked out in new lighting with electric-blue LED daytime running lights, plus there are Stark Industries decals added to the lower fascia and the rear doors. Dark chrome adds a splash of cool to the front grille.

Up top is a new roof treatment, while the frontend gains a new V-shaped hood design. Further Iron Man mask badging was added to the front fenders, and there’s Iron Man engravings inside the headlight housings and the rear the D-pillar.

In the corners, the special edition Kona gets custom 18-inch alloy wheels with Iron Man masks added to the center caps. What’s more, the whole car gets a two-tone color scheme, with Iron Man red on the roof, lower body panels, and surrounds, with matte gray on the rest of the body panels.

The interior is also Iron’d out, with Tony Stark’s signature added to the instrument panel. There’s also a new shifter knob, while a unique Heads Up Display helps you keep tabs on vitals while also providing a cool animation sequence on startup. Rounding it out is a unique center stack with additional Iron Man graphics, plus there’s a custom seat design to boot.

You can check out the Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition in person at the Marvel booth this weekend. If you’re feeling like you might wanna get suited up, you can grab one of these limited run edition vehicles for yourself, as production kicks off in December. Deliveries are scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.

All told, if Tony Stark were real, he’d most likely not drive around in a compact crossover making around 175 horsepower. But hey - not all of us can afford a new Audi R8, and on balance, we think Hyundai did a pretty good job with this one. The red and matte exterior enhance the car’s lines, and the interior gear adds some nice fantasy-inspiration as well.

This is the sort of car only a superfar would buy, and we’re perfectly okay with that. We give it a thumbs up.
