The Model S is the ultimate performer in Tesla’s lineup. Thanks to Tesla’s constant over-the-air updates, the EV is breaking barriers and challenging cars that are known to be hardcore performance cars. It is one of the quickest cars even in the EV segment, but it was still behind the much-more expensive Porsche Taycan. The difference wasn’t a lot though, and Tesla has managed to come in line with the German, courtesy of the Cheetah Stance. Point – Tesla.

Tesla Model S Lacked The Stamina Before The Cheetah Stance Upgrade

Earlier this year, Car and Driver put the Tesla Model S and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S against each other. The German offered better performance, but the publication awarded Tesla the win because of its bang-to-the-buck proposition. The Tesla was 0.1 seconds slower on the 0-60 mph sprint, but it did better than its rival in rolling start races. However, the battery didn’t have the stamina, and by the fifteenth run without any break or respite for the car, the Model S’ sprints dropped to Chevy Bolt’s level (around six seconds).

Tesla then brought the Cheetah Stance into the fold, and now the publication decided to run the same test again. It was the very same car, but with the updated software. The update didn’t just make the car quicker, it also performed better in consecutive runs. Car and Driver conducted the same test routine as before, but this time it was in Michigan instead of Southern California as the last time.

The Numbers Speak For Themselves

Even after the consecutive runs, the 0-60 mph times came between 2.7 to 3.8 seconds. As for the quarter-mile races, they ranged from 11.3 to 12.9 seconds. In the first round of tests between the two cars in February, the average time in metrics as about three seconds after 15 consecutive runs, but post the software upgrades, this has come down to two seconds.

This shows that the software update now allows the battery, electric motors, and other components to get hotter than before without causing any long-term harm. The publication was quite impressed with the upgrade and went on to conclude:

Final Thoughts

There is a huge price difference between the two that makes the Model S a better buy. The Tesla Model S Performance starts at $94,990 whereas the Porsche Taycan Turbo S is priced at $185,000. You’re getting a car with better rear-seat space, better range, and almost the same performance for almost half the price; what more can you ask for? And, Tesla is known for its constant upgrades, so, we can’t wait to see what’s next in the store. What are your thoughts about this? Share them with us in the comments section below.
